► Tyre choices and emergency repairs

One more vote for the Trail Attacks.

I've had Battlewings, Scorpion Trails, plus the Trail Attacks. The Trail Attacks are easily the best. The Scorpions are almost as good. definately grip as well wet or dry. Their only downside is a tendency to follow ridges and white lines, other than that they're fine.

I know you're miles away, but the best place for tyres in the south is Micheldever.

Hated the Anakees, love the Pirelli Sport Demons - on the 650 Single though, not sure if available in your size but really pleased with the Pirelli - road only though at the moment.

I'm about to fit Heidi K60 scouts to my 650 twin. Have had the oe Battlewings on from new and have done 18500km in two years, 95% on road. Riding here in the UAE we don't get much (any!!) rain but I've found them to be fine for the riding that I'm doing. Still get plenty of tread both front and rear. I'm planning to venture off road a little more so after reading plenty of reports on this site decided to give the Heidis a go. I have a question? Can anyone let me know how much, if any, the Heidis raise the standard seat height? At standard 820mm I'm not able to flat foot. Am I going to have a problem?

Just put a set of these Mitchelin PR3s on my Tiger yesterday. They are not cheap but I wanted them so that was that...:beerjug:

Hi George,

it's not the cost, its a matter of whether I can touch the tar!!! I'm wanting to find out how much, if at all, the Heidis raise the standard 820mm seat height.

I can barely touch the ground on mine, very tips of my toes and flat footing it is a distant dream.
I've got a set of Heidis fitted and didn't notice any difference in seat height.

Hi all,

picked up the bike this morning, now shod with Heidenau K60 Scouts. My concerns over not being able to touch the tar were unfound. If anything I'm closer to flat-footing than I was with the Battlewings!! And, Greggers, that was without ANY pies, never mind extra's!! So from my experience fitting these meaty semi off road tyres doesn't affect the seat height at all.

Regards Gordon

Tourances are good tires, much better than the Bridgestones that came on my bike.
I run a Continental on the front and the F800 size Tourance on the rear but as a tubeless and the combination works fine. I was running matched Tourances but the local "dealer" couldn't get me a Tourance front as part of an insurance job. They put on the Continental and it has been fine. I will go back to a matched pair of Tourances for my next pair.

where to purchase K60 scouts from?
