Hi - sorry if this has already been answered previously but I've struck problems attempting to do my own 80k service - replacing fuel filter etc.

On reassembly I had major challenges getting the new rubber o ring that goes between the fuel gauge mounting flange and the tank such that the fuel was pouring out between the flange and the tank.

When simply testing to see whether I had resolved the problem- with the tank partially installed - I was able to get the bike to fire up and run as normal.

However as the leak was still present I simply persisted until I got the o ring seated properly and the leak apparently resolved.

On reassembly the sound emitted by the fuel pump has changed - higher pitched sound and the bike will not fire.

I was careful to make sure fuel hoses went back in the same place as before disassembly and have the fuel filter facing in the correct direction.

Any helpful comments greatly appreciated please - thanks in advance :(

filter

Have you put the filter in the correct way round? there is an arrow on it, and of course put in some petrol, put the rubber ring on a warm surface over night it will shrink back to normal size.

That sounds like the hoses are connected the wrong way around.....

Or you haven't located the plate in the correct postition and the fuel pump isn't sitting in the petrol.

thanks everyone - I suspect I've somehow got the hoses around the wrong way - won't get a chance to get back to this for a day or so but will post how I get on

as a PS to my last post - is the location of the two breather tubes on the fuel pump mounting plate inside the tank critical? ie is the fact that I may have mixed up the two breather hoses significant?

Wish I'd read Steptoe's post about locating the filter outside the tank earlier

cheers

Up date / outcome

All resolved now - seems I had not seated one of the QD hose connections completely

Thanks again to those who offered helpful advice:thumb
