Sorry but I have done a search and am more confused now than when I started!

Travelling yesterday stopped and without warning th failure warning came on after stopping to refuel. Dry conditions etc. Checked light and all is well no apparent change to braking capacity but a very steady ridehome threafter.

The battery does need changing soon and I was charging a pda from and additional aux socket en route - but no drop or problems with starting current.

Just started her up again and warning light now out and servos running ok (but did I see brake failure flashing more than usual or was I looking for fault?).

Any simple checks I can do or explanation gratefully received to quell the panic screaming from my cheque book.

If you've got ABS and it sounds like it could be the iABS version then :

iABS fault codes
These should be listed on a sticker supplied with the bike.

Gen OFF, ABS ON = Only residual braking in both circuits.
Gen OFF, ABS flashes at 1Hz = ABS not available. Pull-away test not completed.
Gen OFF, ABS flashes at 4Hz = Only residual braking function available in both circuits.
Gen ON, ABS off = rear light/brake light defective.
Gen ON, ABS flashes at 1 Hz = At least one brake circuit without ABS.
Gen ON, ABS flashes at 4Hz =At least one brake circuit in residual braking function mode.
Gen AND ABS flashing alternately at 1Hz = Fluid level in Intergral ABS too low.Low-voltage

Assuming you just had the red triangle on it would appear that your rear bulb may be a bit dicky - :nenau

The battery does need changing soon

I don't do the technical explanations :confused:but that sounds like your problem.
Mine did this a few times last year, the ABS reset (on take off) draws a lot of power. This got worse over the next few weeks.
Changed my battery, problem gone. :thumb2

thanks

Saw the thread earlier and the 'font of all..' section and head got stuck in the sand, I wont remove anything just yet then....
