'05 GS Dipped Headlight issues...Help

My '05 dipped headlight has today stopped working. The filament looked in tack but I swung past CW's and picked up a new bulb as it's done 8k and apparently they can go around that mark. Changed the bulb and still no joy. Connectors look good and all seems in tack, can anyone give me any ideas. I've searched but haven't found any ideas online although it seems to be a fairly common problem. I will be commuting early and late this week so need to get to the bottom of it.

T, did you get any error on the screen when the bulb appeared to fail 'LAMPF' for instance?

Although the connectors seem OK it may be worth crimping them a little tighter as I had a loose connection on my bike which caused the low beam to fail. I closed up both connectors so they gripped the bulb terminals more securly and cured the problem.

First confirm that both lamps are actually good. If you've got a battery charger use that, 1 clip on flange and other touch to terminal.

Once you know its good start checking terminals as above and if still no light start wiring checks.

Can't help with canbus issues.

Just a silly thought I had a dipped bulb go on a 08 gs. Replaced bulb still no go when I turned the ignition on ! After a hour of messing about I started the engine and bingo the light worked
I'm not suggesting for a minute your as stupid as me but................!!!

+1. Took a comment from my son to realise that the engine needs to be running.

I think it took a bit of extra crimping to sort it out as I got it back up and running last week. It was displaying a bulb error message. I'll test the other bulb as suggested but think I will leave it as is while it's working this week!
