Not sure if this is an EWS problem , as I haven't seen an EWS light on the dash.
My problem is, I put the key in the ignition, turn to the on position and nothing at all, turn the key off on off on off on, usually takes 3, and all is well again, only seem to have the problem when bike has been in gagrage overnight or left/parked when at work for long periods. No problems when running at all. Any one got any ideas.

What do you mean by "Nothing at all"?

No electrics at all?

No instrument lights or pre-ride check?

No starter / engine does not turn over?

Engine doesn't fire?

A mate had a similar problem, something wrong with the electrical contacts within his ignition switch.

New switch fitted under warranty in his case.

Sorry, I meant to state, nothing at all, no sign of any electrickery at all.
Mileage is nearing 19,000, first real problem I've had.
I'm thinking ignition barrel contacts, but open to suggestions.
Thanks for replying.:beerjug:

ignition problems!!

Hi guys,
Just joined the site, & starting with a problem!, i drive a 06 1200GS adventurer (62,000 KM) & have noticed over the past week that when i go to turn the ignition nothing happens. It usually takes several attempts off turning the key on & off, at by which time the display field on the dash comes on.
The bike starts perfectly at this stage & am not having any problems after that, but as soon as the bike is garaged over night i have to go through the same process as above.
I am planning a round Europe trip the week after next & am a little worried about this problem!!
Any advise on this matter would be much appricated as time is now closing in on me prior to travel!! :(
