Hope someone out there in GS land can help.

My 06 GS ADV has developed a problem with the brakes.

The red warning triangle has illuminated and brake failure is flashing, I still have brakes but without ABS.
I can hear the servo motor running constantly, this has happened a few times over the last 3 years.
Checked at dealers, code cleared and told to see how it goes!!
Usually switching the ignition off and back on clears the problem, until today that is, has anyone come across this problem and what was the fix? :(

Are your brake pads quite worn compared to when new by any chance ??

The simple stuff is to check the brake lever isn't fouling inside the handguard, it could also easily be a stuck or faulty handlebar brake lever switch/rear foot brake pedal switch.

Perhaps a low Servo unit internal reservoir fluid level, resulting in the pump cavitating as it is unable to generate full hydraulic pressure, coupled with a warning triangle telling you to get it checked/fault present? Continuous use of the ABS pump can cause damage to it if the internal hydraulic pump fluid level is low (not to be confused with the handlebar reservoir level).

It really needs diagnosis with a GS911 or at a BMW dealers if the fault isn't obvious.

Thanks for the reply, the pads are nearly new, no fowling on the handguard, checked the switches all seems well, complete brake fluid change done last year by dealer, looks like it needs plugging in...
Thanks again.

It could also be the wiring loom to the ABS pump chafing through against the subframe, I think it would be best to visit your dealer in the interest of safety.

I hope it isn't going to be expensive to repair, good luck with it.:comfort

I'll check give the loom a check over tomorrow and if all else fails give Roy Gardner a ring to see if he can sort out for me.
Thanks again buddy.:beerjug:
