I was on a bike trip in France in August, on the way back to the Ferry the bike
started to backfire violently (under acceleration), this lasted until the bike came to a shuddering stop!!!!!!!!!. With my biking friends looked on, after almost being poisoned by the fumes that came out my exhaust (burning cat) I contemplated who to contact (recovery etc). Then I pressed the start button, it started up as if nothing had happened and has run perfectly ever since.
It had its recall (EWS) last week and also had a full service. No fault showed up on the diagnostics regarding the above??? I saw the print out my self and fully trust the mechanic who carried it out. The general feeling is that this may be the start of a” fuel pump controller failure”. However because no fault showed up they are not in a position to replace it!!!!
Any held or advice would be appreciated
