Twice in the last month or so i have had a "Brake Failure" light show. Stopped switched off, re-start fault light cleared.

Always wait for check light to go out before starting. Bike stopped ok, no probs there.

Anybody any had this and do i need to have the bike looked at?

I've had it happen at Christmas. Went about 100miles fine, then had the light come on. Braking was a bit dull when the light came on, so had BMW assist come and check it out. Seems the ABS pump was playing up.
They bled the rear brake and that seemed to solve it. But it did occur again last month (bike was fine to start with but after a few miles the light came on). They bled the back brake and it's been fine again since.
They think it might need a new ABS pump, but typically last month when I took they bike in for them it was working again, so they want to see the fault occuring before they know they need to replace the pump.

If I were you I'd get the bike in so they can check the fault codes in the computer (or find one of the bretheren on here who lives close and has a GS911). There's a lot of things it could be.

:eek::eek: You mean they want you to rear-end a bus or something before they do anything about your brakes???? I would be banging the table and demanding action - this is a SAFETY issue!! FWIW

Nah, the brakes still work well, it's just not quite as sharp. If it wasn't for the light appearing you'd hardly notice!

I had LAMPR error message alert me to this. My rear brake light was in the bright mode all the time. Mine did not have ABS and braking was normal.

I checked my levers. All OK. Same error.

I replaced bulb. Same error.

I examined the lamp box next:

It turned out the wired connection was physically loose. I had to slightly bend the connection so when i fitted back together it was tight.

Problem solved.

Spoke to dealer today, might be slightly low voltage on batttery when fired up?
Does that make sense to anyone. Didnt seem concerned.
