Hi,

I see there are 101 screen options around but I'm unsure if the 08 GSA needs anything special or if all the pre-08 screens and lips still fit. At the moment and all I need to do is move the airflow a little higher.

I have the seat in the high position and the standard GSA screen in the highest/most upright position.

I get no buffeting at all, just smooth airflow straight onto my helmet but even with ear plugs this gets quite loud as the speed increases. If I duck down 2-3" it goes almost silent.

What would you recommend? a taller screen? a laminar lip? something else?

cheers

Steve

add-on deflector

hi, just droppin you a line to say that i have been down this road and i found that tobinators wern't much use so i picked up a touratech deflector and it improves it i'm 6'2" and it directs the air-flow over the top of my lid now.:)

Thanks for all the info everyone :-) Just an update, I've ordered a laminar lip to see how that goes.

The TT Mount looks nice apart from the big bracket in the middle and the chance you have spend even more money on strengthening the screen.

Hi I have similar problems to you 6' 5", I've fitted a NN tall screen and I am wondering if there are any issues putting a laminar lip on such a screen, as I see the photos for BMWs are for the Adv and Std screens.

Also do you have to order from the states and if so what is the approx shipping charge?

It's not often these days I wish I were a few inches shorter, but sitting on the bike on a clear motorway doing 80ish is one of those occasions.

I tried a Laminar Lip, but got it from Heroblobs in the UK. This was fitted to a standard screen on an 05 GS.

It definitely moved the airflow upwards, but it was still pretty turbulent and annoying. I got a used Cee Baileys screen from a Tosser on this site and it is great - wind on the helmet, but smoooooth.

Some other stuff I have bought direct from the states has incurred shipping plus duty, VAT and a clearance fee from Royal Mail / UPS. Be aware that this is much tighter than it used to be and you may well end up paying these extras.

Finally, don't know if there is a Laminar Lip for a NN screen, but if you want I will send you my GS version to try out and see if it works.

Thanks for the info Owen, I've found the Heroblobs web site so I may check my original screen against the NN and see if it looks suitable.

Thanks too for the offer of letting me try the Laminar but I don't want to put you to too much bother I know packing and posting these things can be a chore.

No problem. Check what fits. Subscribe then you can PM me if you want to try it.

- Touratech Lip
- De-Clit
- Torbinators

Do a search, but the declitting and tobinator will get a bit of air below the screen to keep things smooth.

Problem I have is with combination is on wet days there is so little airflow around the helmet the visor steams up to easily.

Just for information, the laminar lip has fixed it perfectly, airflow moved up, very quiet, just touching the top of my helmet. No buffeting (and it's been really windy the last 2 days)

Standard GSA screen at high, seat on high

No cost solution

As a trial I fitted an old Shoei helmet visor to the top of my 1150 screen clipped on at each side worked a treat on 1500mls to France & back, no buffeting, I am 6ft 1 ish & felt like my head was being yanked off my shoulders on previous motorway journey's.

hi Steve

I'm 6'6" and have a Laminar Lip on my GSA.

Still not high enough for me.

Need a Laminar Lip on my Laminar Lip

Hi, I am also a 6' 8'' tall rider. I have an 07 GSA and have fitted a Laminar Lip last weekend. For me it is fantastic!! 85mph on the M42, visor up and no issues! Result!

Has the lip also reduced the noise level within your helemet. I was going to order one this week in an attempt to reduce noise.

For me, the lip has controlled and moved the windblast higher and made it acceptable. My helmet is very noisy though (HJC FS-10) and is quieter with the visor up at 65mph than with visor down.

I'm happy with smooth *but noisy) windblast and zero buffeting. Do remember that your helmet makes a huge difference in buffeting/noise though and what's acceptable for one may not be for others.

Earplugs are a must for me with this helmet though (same was true on my old bike too). I'm going to be going to the bike show in Nov looking for a new one :-)

Just a bit of thread necromancy for another +1 on the laminar lip.
6ft6, screen on high, seat on high, now lost all the buffeting and 90% of the wind-noise, and now can happily run at high cruise on the motorway with the visor up. :D (And this is with a Caberg Justissimo lid, which is a noisy sod at the best of times)

I can actually hear what the engine/gearbox sounds like at high speed now!
*grrrRRRR-clunk-grrrrrRRRR-clunk-grrrRRRR*
