08 gsa - non delivery

I was going to ride down if collecting on 1st March

However noew he wants the k12 immediately he is delivering the gsa in a van and taking the k12 back with him

The main reason for waiting till 1st march for registration is the dealer reckons that the difference in value between a 08 57 plate bike and an 08 08plated bike is £300 on resale. So i wont register it till 1st march. Still have to pay for it though.

Thanks for your quality B*****s , top class , lol

but i dont see the difference to the bike sitting in my garage or his.
He will have payment plus k1200s , i have gsa.
it will be in my garage whereas it could be in his showroom with every bugger sat all over it, scraping their feet etc etc.

I cant take it on the road, not that i wish too, as i have no number plate, tax disc etc.

Apart from if it's sitting in your garage you're paying (presumably) insurance for a bike you can't use.....or taking a big risk :nenau

Surely any dealer worth their salt would put the bike in a corner with 'do not sit - sold!' signs on it .

All seems a bit silly to me :nenau

I had a brand new Honda Civic CRX out of a dealer's showroom without being registered. The car became my racer and, as far as I know, was never registered in its lifetime.

The 206CC that SWMBO uses now came out of a dealer totally unregistered. I registered it myself a few days after I bought it.

I concur
How can it leave the dealership to be used on the road if it has no paperwork (at least being processed)?

Exactly that the correct paperwork is in process before releasing the vehicle.

Look Fella I'm not interested in an argument with you and you're starting to piss me off with the nitt picking! Is there another useful reason for this except that perhapsI'm Irish?

Perhaps Regs over in England are different but I worked for the local dealership and we weren't allowed to hand over the bike unless paperwork was sorted and they included an insurance check ( that may have been a finance related issue though)

I'm happy and confident with what I know, if you want chapter and verse go see your local dealer and have an argument with them

Bye Bye!

I am not interested in an argument either but it now transpires that you were wrong in your assumptions.

What has irish got to do with this thread - the guy wanted his bike before the 1st March and you were giving him wrong information. - Thant is all.

He has now got his bike showing that it is not even BMW policy.

end of story.

Just a comment re the worry over the value of your trade in. Once they have agreed the trad ein price they have to stick with it. When I ordered my GS they told me it would be 3 weeks (this was back in 05 when there were big supply probs) it ended up being 3 months but they honoured the trade in price agreed, even though my bike had another 3000 miles on it and a totally shagged back tyre

Hi Phil. When i referred to trade in - i meant the future trade in price of the gsa. Ie they think the new bike will be worth more as an -9 rather than a 57 reg - to the tune of £300
THey arent knocking ther price of the k12

Having spoken to the dealer they say there is no law stating i cant have it early, unregistered. After alll i am storing 20 ktms for our local garage in my warehouse! They say it is a bmw policy issue - ie releasing a bike without the current paperwork. However as they are desperate for my k12 , to get it in their showroom and up for sale they are willing to bring the gsa early.

Hope this clarifies things.

Next time i ask a question on here i hope it doesnt snowball into world war 111!!!!

All dealers that sell bikes need to regester the bike in the month it gets deliverd , as this helps them to hit there monthley target.

I picked my new 1150 Adventure up back in 2005 on the 29th of January - I just wanted it so I could get out and ride it! Regarding loss of residual based on the date of purchase and the registration number - if it is that much of an issue DO NOT BUY ANY MOTORCYCLE - you will loose money when you sell it regardless of marque and model (Unless it really is something very special)

I am not sure I could live with knowing my bike was in a dealership for another x number of weeks..........

I probably wouldnt ride it till march anyway. Im not one for riding in pissing rain and snow.
I have a car for that.
Yes I know all motorcycles depreciate, but i aim to spend as little as possible when i change them.
I have probably bought and sold more bikes than you have had hot dinners

I was inclined to say that I will take that as a tongue in cheek comment and as you do not know me and have no idea who I am or my background I would suggest you refrain from such uneducated comments. However it is Friday so enjoy your bike when it comes :D

You are right , i dont know you. You dont know me either,
The original thread was to find out my position with bmw. Not a free for all for people to comment about when they think i should take delivery of my bike.
I am educated,
However I will not take offence,
have a good weekend:)

Ps what is an hp2??
sounds like a disease
