10,000 mile service...what to expect

I would also suggest creating a "sticky" titled along the lines of "Before you ask a question, read here".The sticky would offer advice along the lines of,
"Have you tried to find the information you need from your handbook"
"Have you done a search of the forum (with a short guide on how to search)".
"Have you tried other sources of technical info, with a link to those resources listed in the technical bit of the "links" thread".You know the sort of thing,ADVrider hall of wisdom and the Internet BMW riders site.
"Always include the bikes model and year in your question".Basic info yes,but how many times have you seen posts where a question for a 1200 gets answered with info for an 1150?.

Or how about the original registration e-mail that your sent directing you through the 'Fount of all Wisdom' section before your registration is complete:nenau

Should i ask them to look at a certain "bit",or do they check it all anyways.
I is no tech head, so any input is good.

There you go no need to look for owners manual

Clutch fluid – check

Rear drive gear oil – change (every 24K miles)

:thumb

Do the rear drive oil every 6k if you've any mechanical sympathy

And the clutch fluid every year (i do it on every major service on the bikes that come in to me - otherwise the clutch bleed unit seizes up .

And all of your (and most others here) frustrations would be cured, questions answered and Searches deemed unnecessary if you simply read ... or acquired and then read...a manual for your bike.

I'm not in the least bit frustrated. If i see a thread titled 'oil' i don't bother to open it.

Assuming that a manual will give all the answers who's right above:nenau . Steptoe or the Manual, after all he did ask 'is there anything i should ask them to look at'. According to steptoe that would be the clutch fluid and rear drive oil.

It`s not a lack of knowledge that gets attacked......it`s the bone idle and dipshit mentality of those who ask for the sake of asking, instead of looking and reading first.

If they could search the 'Fount' they may well have been able to read about it.

Servicing.

Nudh,
The one thing you can be sure of is a nice big bill from your local
friendly? dealer, by a manual and save a packet.

The beemers air should be metric, so should be kg/sq mm.

I know this is getting silly so Ill wish you all a Happy Christmas and thanks for all the help this year, this site and its members have saved me a fortune and helped keep me beemering this year. Also met a couple of very old friends through it.
