10 Day trip from scotland to spain

Hi Grizzly,
No it doesn't have to be spain, it was a point at the map and go thing, just want to do a european trip, it seemed as good a place as any, would be happy to do france
or belgium, holland, it`s about the experience of the ride not the location for me as my first trip abroad on bike. would love to tag along to other trips
for peice of mind. any date would prob be ok if i have notice.

Been on a Euro Trip every year since 2006, havent done Spain, cant get over the ballache of riding motorways all the way down to the southern ports.
As already said Newcastle to Ijmuiden is possibly the best entry point for you, in my experience we normally blast across Germany on the first day to get to the best roads, for a first trip I would recommend
Ijmuiden to Chemnitz 1day
Chemnitz to Cesky Crumlov 1 day
Cesky to Spittal Austria 1day
Another two days in Austria/switzerland.
Blackforrest Germany 2 days
Blast back to Ferry 1 day

You will have 2 nights on the ferry (there and back), voila 10 days

Santandar ferry is the way to go. One long day south then ferry itself is a good time with half decent grub and plenty beer and a good kip if you get a cabin. Off the other end at midday ready to go and head east, even if only to ride the N260 end to end. Across a few passes, back for the return ferry and home.
Or, N260 then head up through France and get the Roscoff ferry back, missing the busier north of France

Yep, Something Like That!

Aye, something like that sounds good - a nice circular trip with all sorts of scenery/surroundings. Also, leaving from Livingstone, Newcastle is a nice scenic afternoon ride.
There are loads of decent tours can be based on using the Newcastle-Ijmuiden ferry. Just get a few good maps, Google and a bit of research on here - job done:thumb

done most of europe on the bike including down to southern spain for the ferry over to moroco 3 days from glasgow it was an experience but i wouldnt do it again also done a bit of eastern europe but by far the best trip was to croatia hull to roterdam few days in austria,,few days at lake garda then down to croatia where we were very lucky in finding a great self catering apartment at a very reasonable rate ,,back up over the italian alps into austria ,,germany ,,france,,then the tunnel home ,, a couple of things i took from these trips was that europe aint as big and daunting as i 1st thought and group size and who you go with ,,remember don't be afraid to say adieus :thumb
