100 % reliable 1300

Are they really selling that many? So far there’s only been one turn up at my local IAM group this year. And thats been recovered at least twice that I know of. I actually think there’s more new 1250 GSAs turning up than 13s.
For once, lack of purchasing by IAM members might have been just what BMW were aiming for with this GS. It is more focused and sporty than the last one, so presumably is supposed to appeal more to KTM/Ducati buyers than the stereotypical IAM GS 12x0 owner (of which I am one).

That said, I'm not sure how successful that strategy has been. Bahnstormer have gone absolutely all in on selling the GSA, my reading is they really need a success there with the traditional buyers.

According to this seems like yes they are, think its safe to say over 1000 registered this year (as April may June July and nov 1300GS figures unknown so not added below). The 1250 ADV has also sold in big numbers this year being the biggest seller over 1000cc 4 months in a row.

Over 1000cc category best sellers per month 2024 (dominated by BMW)
Jan - BMW 1300 GS - 99
Feb - BMW 1300 GS - 61
March - BMW 1300 GS - 431
April - BMW R1250 GS ADV - 218
May - BMW R1250 GS ADV - 290
June - BMW R1250 GS ADV - 344
July - BMW R1250 GS ADV - 105
August- BMW 1300 GS - 58
September - BMW 1300 GS - 177
October - BMW 1300 GS - 85
November - BMW 1300 GS ADV - 89

Not the totals for year as only the top seller in category is listed but based on above:
911 1300GS (this figure excludes all the months where the 1250/1300GSA was the top seller)
957 1250GSA
89 1300GSA

Can you tell its raining outside and im bored :D

719 (the fastest colour), with all the gizmos.

About 8 months old. The bike itself is perfect. Has never let me down.

I love the auto ride height and the radar cruise. Bloody brilliant.

The BMW GPS is, to use a technical term, shit.

I don't use panniers, but if I did, would use the SW motech top loaders.

Bike came with a top box. It is stupidly heavy, IMHO. I got a brand new replacement as part of the recall.

It is still in its cardboard box.

Removed all the pannier and top box scaffolding and the pax pegs.

Replaced the pax seat with a lockable box from Cymarc.

The rider's seat isn't as good as the previous model, as all the adjustment gubbins are actually inside the seat. Tolerable for 3 or so hrs and then my arse needs a break - as does the rest of me.

I run the bike in dynamic pro mode (as long as the weather is fine), with all the nannies turned down, but a basic safety net in place.

Suspension is in road mode, unless I want to push it through some smooth twisties.

The donk clanks and rattles compared to a 1250, but it pulls like a train. Earplugs a necessity. Will loft the front in 2nd without trying hard.

As you can see from my Avatar, I own a 1250 RT as well. The GS is markedly faster (as one would expect).

I've also owned 2 1200GS - the 1300 is night and day better.

It replaced a KTM 1290 SAS. Much more refined than the orange beast, and almost as fast.

Definitely best colour . Shame they charge so much for the 719 bollox . Where does 719 come from ?

I initially had the starting hesitation that the dealer sorted with a download. I recently had a problem with the starter relay which failed in wet weather (was due to be replaced at the next service). This resulted in a breakdown truck and 3 days without the bike in Spain. Communications via the Spanish team was none existent, the UK folk did their best, but not a good experience. My first bike breakdown recovery in more than 50 years. The bike has done 14,000 miles and I like it, better for me than the 1250 in every way (accept reliability and the seat. Note the Sargent below).

I see little point in paying £20k + on a motorcycle and squirming around on a lousy seat after a couple of hours. I find the Sargent good for all day riding, for me worth the money.
Agree. On long trips, I always fit my Alaskan Buttpad, I originally bought for my 1150. It fitted the 1200GSA Ok, and I'm hoping it fits my 1300GSA. I swear by it. Never had any uncomfortable seats ?

That’s got to be the biggest con ever- people pay £25k for a new bike and the manufacturer has the audacity to charge £250 for the optional comfort seat .
Do they not deem a £25k bike worthy of a comfort seat as part of the OE ?

Not aimed at BMW as every manufacturer that I can think of does this. But it’s so wrong.

Ha Ha I just stated exactly the same thing to my salesman. The cost for the rider and passenger heated comfort seats was eye watering. Should be standard

It’s a shame they have to write option 719 on everything, like the options but don’t like option 719 written on the bike🥴

Totally agree, the concept of a comfort seat shouldn’t even exist, make a comfortable seat and fit it to the bike from the start :nenau

In the case of the 1300GS, they actually do come with the comfort seats as standard, unfortunately the front seat just isn’t actually comfortable :blast

Don't they just call them all "comfort" seat now and on the new GS GSA it's the electric seat which is extra cost??. £150 & £100 for rider and passenger.
Still not comfortable after an hr or so. Just ordered a Wunderlich akticomfort for my 1300gs. Had one on 1250 and it was an improvement.

Can you order comfort seats for the recovery truck when you spec yer new Wankpanzer ? 🤔😜

2023 R1300GS bought in mid December 2023, currently 9000miles on the clock.

Bike has spent a full month off the road due to it catching fire back in Feb due to the starter relay issue followed by the more recent “red TFT of death” which resulted in a full TFT replacement.

Had a plethora of random error messages suggesting all kinds of systems are malfunctioning but these then disappear.

Never really failed to start/run and has taken me all the way to Greece and back without missing a beat aside from an intermittent starting issue which took a couple of goes to get going. Never actually broken down either.

Excellent.
Looks like the 1300 is already reliable .Minor issues such as the bike catching fire, needing a new TFT and numerous error messages are all pretty common with a new model.

The main thing is it never broke down so the bike was still rideable and trustworthy ,and at least the month the bike spent off the road coincided with the weeks you spent in the burns unit.
