You’ve obviously not seen the latest TFTs then such as that fitted to the new KTM 1390s with much higher resolution, touch screen and fully integrated nav independent of any phone .Why change the TFT? There is absolutely nothing wrong with it.
I have looked at several other bikes with TFT’s
The BMW is by far the best.
TFT was introduced in 2018 so I guess it’s not 10 years old.
Ah, I see. He dislikes the 1300 enough not to have one which is of course his choice. What is an odd though is how someone can be so negative towards something without even owning one and is therefore not really placed to make an informed decision. Why would someone who doesn’t have the bike be obsessed with the fact the switchgear isn’t backlit? @ Arsey - Not being either a Cockwomble or a muppet I’m curious to know what’s the driver behind the constant dissing?
You’re right . I won’t ever own one but not for the reasons you think . And how many on here own theirs rather than rent it on PCP ?He's literally dripping with envy knowing he'll never have one. Miserable and wants to be sure everyone knows. Moderator should have kicked his ass long ago

Dynamic Pro doesn't give you anything more than Dynamic, it simply allows you to reduce throttle response, traction control and ABSRe original post - the fueling is much smoother in road mode rather than dynamic. There are a few YouTube hero’s that advocate using road setting and stiffening th suspension. I’m fine with the normal settings - enduro for bogs, road for boreens and motorway…..dynamic for fast sweeping roads and dynamic pro for acting the Cnut.
I changed suspension and TC settings so mine is very differentDynamic Pro doesn't give you anything more than Dynamic, it simply allows you to reduce throttle response, traction control and ABS
No need to apologise to me, I am neither brand loyal, or a sensitive soul. I also didn’t upgrade blindly to the latest GS. I buy my bikes after much research and not on PCP, although if that’s the way folk are able to get into a bike they want, then who are you to pass comment on that? As a pilot you’re obviously financially solvent. Unfortunately you are graceless with it. You’re actually a bit of a snide with your comments, constantly criticising the bikes folk ride, their choices and their way of financing the bike. This place is a GS owners site and yes, that means there are posts to the positive and to the negative of the bikes we ride, you take the piss though and are becoming a single Issue maniac. Get a grip and move on, it’s boring. Oh and regarding the headlights, they are fine. It wouldn’t matter if the OEM headlight was brighter than the sun, owners would still fit additional lights to their bikes, such is their volition.Ok, I’ll hold my hands up and apologise to all you loyal people who don’t have a bad word said against your loyal steed . I guess I’m not brand loyal and buy what I want rather than just ‘upgrade’ blindly to the latest GS .
But I do find it incredulous what BMW charge for the basic bike and then spend more to upgrade stuff like headlights . Shouldn’t BMW fit the Pro as standard on a £20K bike ?
I am also fortunate that I don't need and never have needed PCP or finance to buy a bike or a car. However, when it came to doing a deal on the 1300gs, a bike that didn't really excite me, bought purely out of necessity, it seemed prudent to explore the possibility. It turned out that I got 14k back in the bank for the two bikes I owned, £1250 deposit for the 1300 and £210 a month for 48months. 3.9% APR, not base apr. Warranty extended for the term of the PCP. Felt like a decent deal so I went for it.I do...I am fortunate that I dont do anything on PCP...not even cars.....But if PCP fits then why not?

Exactly that!!’ Well written post. Well said. Thank you.I am also fortunate that I don't need and never have needed PCP or finance to buy a bike or a car. Five months down the line and I am starting to gel with this bike. Not having a clutch has seriously increased my riding pleasure. I have had zero issues so far and it appears to be very nicely built. Another 3 1/2 years and just give it back. It's warranted for the full term so no problem there. I'll be 74 by then, so maybe either dead or time to hang up my boots, that is unless Guzzi have come out with an auto V85 by then.
Why oh why do smaller people insist on riding GS’s when they don’t have either skill or stature for such large bikes? At first I was overloaded by all the phone like electronics on the newer BMW bikes but after a couple of years I wouldn't want the backlit controls. I think in certain conditions the light coming off backlit switches would be annoying and distracting imo. Once you learn where the bright lights are, then the heated grips, then the cruise stuff....... it's easy enough ... I can find them now without even looking. If you do ride at night, do pay attention to the road, truly .....
Back to the 1300 ..... I was over at a BMW shop the other day for a club meeting and I actually seem some 1300s running coming into the parking lot. They do clearly rattle a bit. But I also noticed that the header pipes coming out of the cylinders were as blue as blue is .... They seem to be running them very lean imo ...
I am officially back on the market for a GS or possibly a lowered GS. My legs are too short for the GSA suspension on my present GS. Not by a little either. I actually dumped it in a parking lot the other day, being a little rusty this spring, and being too many steps ahead of the bike. The fact that I have to be a little over to one side to have my foot down firmly. Also the seat is just too wide giving massive hip cramps at times, although they do go away. It's a good thing I have the RS which fits me very well and I like it better for the most part ...
Can anyone confirm, please, if I've understood the manual correctly, or not?I've read the relevant manual pages loads of times and it's still as clear as mud.
I've got the screen with the black dot to its left and I believe that means priority (I could be wrong)
I've got heated stuff with a "hold" to its right and I think that means it is secondary (could be wrong again).
I'd like to replace heating with spot (riding) lights but they are well buried in the menu - is there any way to get the spots available for quick switching on and off? I only use them when I need to and don't ride with them on all the time.
TIA.
I know a chap who’s collecting his new KTM 1390 Adv, todaythe BM TFT screen is a disaster, the old GS analogue instruments were light years better, more info, easier to read, and easy to find what you wanted
only one bike now has a screen worth bothering with and unlike the vast majority of halfwit engineers they bolted round the right way

From fifth-gear power wheelies to offline maps, the 1390 Super Adventure R is anything but subtle.
KTM’s new 1390 Super Adventure R is here, and it is a serious piece of work. Rennie Scaysbrook takes the 173 hp, 1350 cc V-twin adventure flagship into the desert to see whether all that power, tech and long-travel chassis actually add up in the real world.www.mcnews.com.au
Unfortunately you can not conveniently toggle the OEM auxiliary spots on and off. I suggest just leave them onCan anyone confirm, please, if I've understood the manual correctly, or not?
Thee was nothing wrong with a button on previous models. They didn't need to re-invent it.Unfortunately you can not conveniently toggle the OEM auxiliary spots on and off. I suggest just leave them on
