Genuinely laughed hard enough to spill my pint, thanks ALOT!Excellent.
Looks like the 1300 is already reliable .Minor issues such as the bike catching fire, needing a new TFT and numerous error messages are all pretty common with a new model.
The main thing is it never broke down so the bike was still rideable and trustworthy ,and at least the month the bike spent off the road coincided with the weeks you spent in the burns unit.
Good feedback.I posted about all my issues with my Dec 23 bike.
I am now trading in the bike for a Sept 24 build.
The new bike is the same triple black 1300 GS T E but without the Riding Assistant package.
Lots of my error messages related to this system and the Innov 3rd eye system costs £550 less. Not exactly the same but good enough for me.
I have done 14k miles in the 12 months I’ve had it.
The dealer has given me a good deal on the trade in with a ‘goodwill’ gesture being the sweetener.
I have a ‘service inclusive’ pack with the bike which stays with the bike but BMW UK have agreed to fund a ‘service inclusive’ pack with the new bike.
So, although the first year experience has not being good, the bike never left me stranded. I love the bike’s looks and performance hence replacing with the same. After 45+ years motorcycling it’s the best bike I’ve owned.
Hope you have better luck with the new one. Probably still a MY2024 build in Sept??, but don't know that much has changed apart from auto gearbox as an option on My2025. I didn't have any trouble with my jan24 1300gs and it had everything on it including riding assistance, ride height adjust etc. etc.I posted about all my issues with my Dec 23 bike.

My old one is in Vertu Baildon , never had any issues with it, Trophy model with 6900miles and all add on options apart from Akro.Good feedback.
Fits with my experience of the tech on cars for error messages.
Currently searching for a used ‘24 1300gs BMW approved without adaptive cruise or fancy ride height system. Should minimise the risk and tbh not things I would use anyway.
my first Trophy sat in France for some time...My old one is in Vertu Baildon , never had any issues with it, Trophy model with 6900miles and all add on options apart from Akro.
Just delete it.Sorry I wrote that.
as far as I know Consumer Law covers all goods and services in the UK. I think one can reject an approved used bike.On the back of that, does anyone know if Approved Used’ bikes can be rejected, or is it only new (consumer law..) also, and I doubt this one, is there a way to find out if a motorcycle for sale has been previously rejected?
that's were i was c.2 months ago although my dealer sorted a replacement rather than going through the rejection process (which i tabled at the start to prompt some action.as far as I know Consumer Law covers all goods and services in the UK. I think one can reject an approved used bike.
I have personally been successful in rejecting an "approved used" car recently by a franchised dealer. The value was close to £100k. The main issue it was after the 30day period, but within 6 months. It was not straightforward, but my lovely legally trained wife and some correspondence to the Ombudsman helped. Vehicle was rejected outright to full refund (rather than repair/replace).
Obviously we are not on the dealer's Xmas card list.
So updating my original comments…a whole year and a bit on and my local IAM group now has a whopping…..3 1300s. A second guy updated to a GS late last summer and there’s a new member turning up on the Lego pos. The original guys bike has spent so long in the dealer he’s refused to have the annual service done on time unless they reduce the cost by 25% equal to the time it’s spent in the dealer rather than with him.Are they really selling that many? So far there’s only been one turn up at my local IAM group this year. And thats been recovered at least twice that I know of. I actually think there’s more new 1250 GSAs turning up than 13s.
What do you mean the posts get deleted?Dont worry, on my second…due to theft*.
Best bike on the market for what I do. Daynamic pro, headlight pro. Job done. Love them.
* I have tried to warn others to take good security with them for Euro trips. The posts get deleted. Take precautions, just trying to help folks avoid the hassle I had. These bikes ARE targeted.
Only downside.
