Here's a quote form Visordown, just released:

A SOURCE at KTM has confirmed a 1050 Adventure will be unveiled at EICMA as a 2015 model.

The new capacity bike in KTM’s Adventure line-up was revealed by Stefan Pierer, Chairman and CEO of KTM, at the Indian launch of the RC 200 and RC 390.

In case that wasn't enough, the new model has since appeared as an option on the owner’s manual download page on KTM’s website. However, the listing ‘1050 Adventure EU (2015)’ suggests the new bike may only be available in Europe.

Details are yet to be revealed but we expect the 1050 to use a rebored version of the Austrian firm’s 113hp, 999cc 75° v-twin engine, used in the now discontinued 990 models.

It will likely sit alongside the 1190 Adventure and just-launched 1290 Super Adventure as a cheaper, less powerful entry into KTM’s Adventure range.

I can't pretend I'm not a little curious/interested, I loved my 990A and still miss it a little despite the 1190A buzz

I spoke to a dealer today who told me there will be 3 new 1050 powered bikes. 1 x Adventure, 1 x Sports, 1 x SMT

I talked to a very nice KTM person at Intermot, who said that EICMA is coming up, no promises, but it could become interesting.... I still think the 9x0 Adv. S/R are the best looking things on two wheels ... and I have BMW's :-(

There's a two page article with pre production photographs in todays MCN

A KTM Factory Insider has been quoted as saying

Imagine an 1190 Adventure that has been put on a really hot wash and has shrunk a little all over

A KTM Factory Insider has been quoted as saying

Did he mention shrinking into a real adventure bike? :D

Maybe it's aimed more at the Tiger 800 seeing as Triumph managed to sell around 1200 of them last year?

I can't imagine it'll be anywhere near as cheap as the Tiger though

The MCN spy shot looks just like an 1190, it hasn't shrunk enough that is for sure.

If that's true it doesn't make sense to me?

I'd have thought the best scenario would be:

1050 - an update but no huge change to the 990, so a very dirt focused, big bike.
1190 - a fast road bike that can cope well on the dirt.
1290 - a competitor to WBM GSA's

Or, as has been suggested, maybe there is more of a potential market to be had if the 1050 is set up to compete with the Triumph 800 (and WBM paralel twins)?

I'm imagining that the 1050 will come with no fancy electronic suspension or engine modes to keep the price competitive

Certainly less features, it will have ABS of course. My friend just went and had a demo on an 1190 and asked about the 1050. The sales guy at Colwyn Bay KTM estimated that they will be in the region of £11,000.

Is this a genuine piccie ?

no, but this is

panniers are an improvement, and i'm buying a pair of those mirrors. don't like the coffin shaped things on my 1190. they look like they should on some crappy chopper :)

from MCN:

"The 1050 Adventure is a less powerful, lighter, smaller capacity stablemate to the range-topping 1190 and 1290 versions and is aimed at replacing the old 990SMT, which was extremely popular with UK riders. The new bike also hopes to appease those KTM riders who were far from impressed when the old 990 Adventure was axed and replaced with the heavier, more complex and more expensive 1190 and 1290 versions. Those riders wanted a much simpler and lighter machine that could tackle off road riding if needed, but which made long distance road rides comfortable and exciting."
