Does anyone know if it's OK to use an older style alternator cover (which had the rotary breather) on a later bike which doesn't have it? My '98 cover (left hand one in picture) has lost all its paint so I intended to use a 2nd hand one I've got but now I've got them side by side I can see they're different.
With the black rotary seal removed the 2nd hand one still has that round machined part in the middle remaining but it doesn't appear to foul the end of the chain sprocket bolt. Has anyone tried this?
