1100 cutting out

any of you chaps know when the man himself is returning from sunnier climbs. My 1100 is playing up, cutting out or not starting at all. From a little search here it seems possible it could be hall sensors. In the absense of the guru do any of you have a link to previous posts or ideas how to easily eliminate them?
