I pick up my 1100 on Saturday and am looking to expand my toolkit to take account of my new baby :)

I already posses the usual selection of (decent quality) sockets and a good selection of 1/4" and 3/8" drive hex bits, however apart from some tiny sizes, I don't have any of those new fangled torx bits - does the 1100 use these extensively ( I know the later models do)?

Any other 'handy to have' tools I should get hold of (I'm a bit of a tool junkie  )?

cheers

torx, I don't remember any on my old 1100... HTH

filter wrench

Halfords do an oil filter wrench made by laser tools iirc I paid a fiver very hard to remove an oil filter without it:thumb2

No Torx on the 1100... unless they're buried inside the engine.

you should have almost everything you need in the on-board tool kit. with the obvious exception of an oil filter wrench.

Ahh...................those were the days, halcyon memories for some (glad my 1150 Adv and 1100RT still has the same kind of toolkit)

My 1200GSA came with feck all..................accountants and bean counters, don't you just love them

Thanks for the pointers guys.

The on-board toolkit of the bike I'm getting is 'semi complete'. From memory, it contained plug spanner, hex wrenches etc and some other bits and pieces (although it's hard to work out what's not there without a full one to compare to!).

I'll get hold of a filter wrench and I guess I can acquire other stuff as needed.

cheers

Tools

Smallish pair of steelsons and a big hammer and an assortment of chisels!.
Dave ( I hate Christmas) GS

Lots of torques on mine, its a 98. I'd have a look if I was you.

if thats the case... at some point in the bikes history a previous owner has replaced the originals - not unheard of.

I've not seen a fastener kit for these bikes with Torx heads rather than 'Allens' though.

Interesting.
Mine's a '94 (or will be when I get it) - guess I'll just need to see what it's fastened together with when I get hold of it :)

only torx on my 99 1100 were holding the grab rail on.....all other fixings in regualr use alan headed or usual nuts/bolts...

should 'nt need to use tools much, remember this model is the one that doesn't break down......:thumb2

Haven't met a torx on mine yet - but some torx bits may be useful when you round the hex/allen heads :thumb2
