having taken the right hand cylinder head off my slider for the cam chain has brocken can anyone tell me if there is anyway of replacing it without splitting the engine and the procedure of doing the job

Yes, there is a way of fitting a new blade without splitting the engine.
Drop the bike in and it'll be ready to collect the day after.

This is the remains of a thread on ADVrider that told of a way to file a slot in the hole on the end of the blade so it could be hooked over the hard to get to bolt, rather than splitting the motor.

The help you'll most likely get is from someone who has never done it, has read about it somewhere else and posts his 3rd or 4th hand info as bonafida.
I posted a "how to" on the wiring for a servo brake removal after spending a long afternoon with all the wiring and circuits physically testing all the 23 wires and their functions.
Two weeks later a breaker is selling kits for a lot of money $380/£200 with the parts needed ( parts cost £80) and with the wiring diagram.
I've never had any hesitation posting help and advice, but when others make money from my work that i've offered free why should i bother -
Thinking about it, how many other independents that advertise and get business from UKGSer actually help with free advice. I can think of two, jaythro and vern ( sorry if i've missed anyone out, i'll edit the post and add you if i have
). Most of them use the site as a cash cow, all take no give, and the funniest is the one who if he were chocolate would eat himself and never stops posting how wonderful he is
.And in this particular case of a broken cam chain guide rail, i took the responsibility when doing the fix for the first time on a customers bike.
If it had failed i'd be the one paying out on new parts and fixing the bike for no cost, not the people who want the information.
imagine if i post "i'm going to attempt to fix a bike, but if it goes wrong could everyone chip in to cover my costs, because you may all be able to use the information one day".

talk about someone else thinking they are chocolate that is exactly the way you come across,,,drop the bike off and pick it up tomorrow is that meant to be funny ,,i know ruddy on a personal level and in fact recommended he join this site how fuckin embarrassing when he gets replies like that from people like you he is a joiner not a mechanic but al tell you this he would be the first to help you out,,,no doubt i will get no information or help from you from now on but i would rather that than suck up your arse to get it ,,,now on you go give us some smart arse reply

To me this is a grey area, to be a moderator and give advice is good, but when it is your livelihood, counterproductive....
Surely, its either mod and advice, or Business, not both

Rockchunk you're out of order Man It's easy to sit on the bylines and get upset, there's reasons for not posting explicit instructions! One being some greedy fucker Stealin yer idea that ya spend the time to research and post up to help folks!
The other being in reality You probably have no Idea How complicated / messy something can get if you explain it and some one misinterprates the post and fcuks up!
I've actually gone as far as to write a full description of a procedure to delete it cos there were too many places where it could go tits up for the average rider / mechanic who don't "really" know what they are doing!
Ruddy There's a diagram attached below The bolt number 6 can be seen just above the sump at the rear of the engine below the centre line of the gearbox It's for the lower rails
How you get the circlip off bolt 6 and back on is up to you my friend
The top ones will require the engine splitting photo below diagram

It isn't counterproductive- if someone is going to have a go, they will regardless of what is posted. So i'll post advice.
It also may mean i don't get someones feck up to try and put right
What i draw a line at is giving advice to people who i don't know and who don't contribute feck all to the site and who'll be making a profit out of doing the job.
That is my personal viewpoint, everyone has a different one .
