Hi, can anybody point me in the right direction for the oil filter tool for an 1100. Can you get them out of Halfords for example and if so which one is it? Any specific car models that fit? :nenau

I use the champion c301 filter, which halfrauds sell, why not go in and see if they have anything to fit it ? the tool I got years ago fits champion and I think knecht filters.

Probably got one or two here if you need one urgent, like when Halfrauds is shut. :)

Funnily enough Noddy the bike we need the tool for is your old one! Stuart has partly stripped it down to paint the engine front case and oil pipe etc. I lent him my filter tool (1150) and it doesn't fit! Marvelous. I'll give you a shout if he's stuck for one! Cheers anyway! :thumb2

small tip when using the ones from halfords they seem a little loose on some filters . wrap the inner of the tool with some tape ,masking tape is fine and lightly tap on to fiter , you get a snug fit and it grips better . happy days:thumb2

I always thought that the oil filters fitted to the 11xx models are all the same.
Moto-Bins sell a filter with "C" shaped indentations for tightening/loosening and you need to use the correct tool.
The proper filters have something like 15mm flats around the circumference for fitting.

Yeah, strange that. :nenau The tool I have has 15 flats and the filter on his bike has 14. I would've thought the two models would use the same filter?

I suspect the filter may not be genuine.

You could always knock two nails into the bottom and use them to twist it off.

Don't buy the yellow tool, it's a one time use at best!

Go for the thicker aluminum like one, you won't regret.

Dan.

If you get the BM issue one it will be hanging around for years being useful and has a lovely crisp ring when you drop it...

The 1100, 1150 and all the K series bikes all use the same filter tool.

Your bmw tool doesn't fit because the oil filter isn't a bmw or an aftermarket bmw filter, it'll be a generic oil filter, usually a champion .

Ta for that! :thumb2 I've told my mate and he's gonna get a proper filter. He had a spare the same as the one that's on now but he ain't going to use it. Cheers.:bow
