just been doing a search as my rear brake on my 1100 has been dragging recently and came across this thread.
http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showth...ar-caliper-seals?highlight=rear+brake+caliper

i have cleaned the caliper and the sliding pin assembly and all is free, cleaned the outer side of the pistons but still dragging, have ordered a new seal kit from motorworks as I feel I have the same issue as matt, possible corrosion and crud behind the pistons as one is slightly harder to move. I am going to remove pistons and give them a clean and fit new seals
before I start I was just wondering what is the easiest way of removing the pistons, they are both free, is it a case of just simply push them out with pedal and hydraulic pressure while the caliper is connected.
any other tips before I start, thanks

I believe the usual way is with air. Bicycle pump should do it if they are moving.

I now consider myself an expert in this field, lol.

If it's like my front callipers, it'll be a build up behind the thin seal (dust seal). use the brake pedal to SLOWLY push out the pistons. If one looks like coming fully out before the other, clamp it to stop it, so the other piston starts to move out. I used two tyre leavers, a g.clamp and a big pair of mole grips to hold in 2 of the four pistons on each of front caliper.
Good luck.
Rob.

Buy some calliper piston pliers, that grip the piston from the hollow inside. Insert, apply pressure and twist the piston whilst pulling.
Saves shooting brake fluid across the garage under pressure.

There a great bit of kit. I'll get some for next time and save all the faffing about that I had to do. Cheers DemonG.

Ive got those pliers ..shite ..if the piston is stuck you cant get enough grip and it just turns round in the piston ...try using a large rawl bolt into the piston works no bother :thumb2
