I have a question concerning the settings for the rear shock on my 1100 and hoped someone here could help me.

My manual is in German and as I don't speak it, let alone read it I can't understand the settings for the rear shock.

Can someone please tell me what the "standard" setting is for as well as the "high" and "low"?

Thanks.

Each to their own but on my original rear shock I used to have a 'click' per stone of weight from the softest setting. I like the ride to be firm and this was OK for me. Don't forget you can adjust the rebound too, nearside bottom of the shock there is a screw.

The english manual doesn't say what the settings are for either. just how to set them. high or low.

The only settings that are explained are for the front shock.

road. loose surface and off road.

So which is the softest setting, high or low?

When I turn the knob it also clicks so I guess its probably the same as your original shock as this is still the original.

The screw for the rebound is set horizontally between the two settings. I haven't adjusted this as yet but does it turn fully or just fractionally?

low is the softest.

the english owners manual says "turn handwheel fully to the left in the direction of the LOW arrow.

opposite for high.

no mention at all of a 'standard setting'

when i had my original shock i only ever used the preload.. i never touched anything else. just wound it up for a passenger.

Well, on my shock as I wind it up from low to high there are marks on the barrel that slowly appears as I wind it up. The marks are lines and at about 3/4 way up it says "Stnd" - all the way up there is another line on the barrel which has a red mark on it and it says High. The difference between low and standard is about 2 inches and between standard and high about 3/4 inch.

So what is standard as this is obviously where its supposed to be I guess?
