1100 sidestand switch elimination

I think I have seen some where instructions how to mode sidestand switch to stall engine only when theres gear on. It needed relay to make this.

Or if some remembers how to just pass the switch, it would save some time

think you'd have to splice the s/s s/w through the neutral s/w somehow, probably easier just to short out the s/s s/w, look in your manual and see where the wire's from the s/s s/w go, join the input wire's to the s/w together,

Just do it properly! Just shorting it out allows you to drive off with the stand down until you get to the first left hander

YES I know you should check the stand is up but when you have had the facility then sometimes it is easy to forget not kick the stand up properly etc etc etc

This is the method I use when people want it done! LINKY

Edit If I remember correctly I run the two wires up into the fuse box and mount the relay in there neater and you can get a relay with a fuse built in so no hassles

Haven't got an 1100 myself but if you use the neural light wire to operate a relay (relay tag 86) then wire relay tags 30 and 87, one each side of the sidestand switch. You will need a battery on relay tag 85 so that the relay will work. Small diameter wiring will be fine. any automotive relay will be fine, such as http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-Pin-12v...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item53ef1414b2



The relay will now operate when the bike is in neutral, so will not operate engine cutout when the sidestand is down. Once in gear the relay releases and the sidestand if down will cut the engine. Hope it is clear if not I can quickly draw a diagram.

Might be wrong but looking at the link DrFarkof listed it looks like if you connect neutral switch tag wire 2 to the sidestand switch tag wire 2 it will work without a relay?? The diagram is a bit small for my aging eyes but if I am wrong I am certain someone will let me know.

Just realized this could cause the neutral light to come on with the side stand down, you could still do it this way but you will need a diode in the circuit to prevent the earth from the sidestand feeding into the neutral circuit, place it in the wire with the -ve side of the diode towards the sidestand switch.
