Bit of a problem with my 1100.... though ive not picked it up yet so i can diagnose it exactly. Its an s model but presumed the cables and set up are exactly the same.

The throttle advancer doesnt work... just wondering if this tends to be cables or something else as theres a set of cables going very cheap in a few hours so wondering if i need to get them.

ahh right .. ill check that out. Is it ussually cables that go wrong? theres not much else to the advancer is there? Hmmm unless someone could have slackened them off thinking they were balancing the carbs or something.... i think i should just wait to get it back home and have a proper looksee :)

Gonna cut that tank this weekend! :D

i already had.. id specified it was an s... so there are no pre 98 bikes. Hence it should have the splitter then. :)

ssslloowww down and read the thread properly:augie

now then now then.. don't get shirty.

the reg number can have little or nothing to do with the actual age of the bike.. and really (I know) its never wise to simply 'assume' that a certain reg will be a definite age.

The only truly valid guide is the VIN and/or a physical inspection.

no not getting shirty mate dont worry.. its something between me and step ;)

Not assuming owt mate... they only released the s in 1998.... so .. thats all it can be! :)

Ahh, now i get it .:thumb2

Its only an S not a GS.

And the year is a 98 model bike.

Not a GS on S reg 98.

:clap

only... cheeky swine :headbat

tis my new ride for the next few months so i can strip the gs and make it mint :)

cheers.. tis still a nipper... just 76k on the thing!
The dealer im buying it from hates its guts though, its tried to kill him on numerous occasions without even going out of the shop haha. Hence the good price ;)

anyways, i reckon the problem will be something to do with the splitter if no one else has mentioned owt typical, splitter or cable so ill get that full set of cables.

cheers ears.

that tankbag will be sent out monday btw bud :)

Assuming it's got the same splitter arrangement as the (post-98) GS, this is caused by too much slack in the lower cables and not enough slack in the upper cable. Put maximum slack in the upper cable and start from there.
