hi i put a remus and s pipe on my 19981100gs,but the drone off it is annoying and the performance seems the same as stock only seems faster cause the noise.so im putting it back to stock, anyone else done this and is there any probs putting it back.cheers

I thought the same and took off the Remus the bike came with and put the stock BMW exhaust back on

Just swap over and bolt back on

Only thing good about the Remus was it weighed less

You'll be hard pushed to fit an exhaust that is better right across the rev range than the standard one.

Just bolt it straight on:thumb2

Im gonna do the same, got Remus Grand Prix and i .think its to noisy.I aint got the old system though, could i still go with no cat.

Wow, this is a refreshing change! If any of you blokes posted this over on ADVrider, you'd get flamed like nothing else,:mcgun other readers proclaiming you're all sissies and the like. It seems far too many riders on this side of the pond utterly and truly believe that a louder bike must be a faster bike!

another thought...

Have any of you just gone to a cat-only set up? Some claim that it's not much louder than the stock set-up, at least at idle.

Wot he says:thumb2

My 1100GS was lumpy and awful at low revs with a Remus and connector pipe

Standard BMW set up looks and makes the bike feel better

Beats me....... how BMW could make such an awful looking standard exhaust system for the 1150GS, when in comparison the 1100GS BMW exhaust is a work of art

Yes and at least BMW ones dont fall apart and crack around the welds!.. Last time I put my expierences of Remus and Performance Parts on here all I had was a load of jip from some people. How many Remus pipes are still in one peace and sound the same as when they had first been fitted compared to stock BMW ones?

I actually really like the sound of the Remus but thats all.

Ive heard Franco's 1150ADV with cat only, makes just the right amount of noise. :thumb2

I agree and can't stand loud droning pipes on a tour. I have the Staintune muffler on my GS12 and really like the note as it is not much louder than stock, but just sounds 'fruiter' when playing with the throttle. The other w/e I was at a dealers and he had the full system on his bike which cuts out the cat. It was quite a bit louder so now makes me wonder if I really want to buy the rest. :nenau

I don't feel so old now!!!! Everytime i took off my laser for the MOT, I would leave on the stock can for weeks for a bit of peace.

I now have a remus (after shunt) which is very loud too. Trouble is i hate the stupid sewing machine noise you get with the std can

I want a bit of burble, deep bark but with reasonably acceptable noise levels on a steady throttle/cruise.

What you want instead of a Y piece is an X
Stock can on the left and a Remus on the right with a butterfly valve controling flow :D

I agree :thumb

from first seeing the 1150... the exhaust looked like an aftermarket effort (and a cheap one at that)

I put a full Remus on my GS1100, It was like a new bike, felt much quicker and sounds cool, I still can´t get the grin off my face whenever i ride the bike.

I fitted a Laser to my 1100.

Loved the noise (not on tours though:eek:), significant weight loss, the backfire was great, and it felt like the top end was livelier.... and after 6 months I went back to standard.

I agree with Vern, with the standard pipe the power curve's much flatter, the Lazer certainly robbed the bike of its midrange grunt... and that's utimately where you spend most of your time.

Hi Ugg,

Has it got a Lambda socket? If so, I might be interested, depending on condition. How do I contact you?

Dave.

message from ugg,no, sorry its an early model, before cats were fitted, could fit and not have a lambda but it may run richer
