1100gs electrical problem

I'm off to London today..............went and pulled the bike out of the garage and filled her up. Noticed that the battery warning light was on and that the tacho had stopped. Checked the fuses and number one had blown. the only (ha) thing that I've done recently is fit a light bar with the full loom. I'm pretty competant, so I'll stand by what I've done there. At worst, will the bike be charging, or am I going to be left on the hard shoulder. I presume I must have a short in the brake lights or somewhere in the loom. Any help would be gracefully accepted.

Replace the fuse. If it blows again you've got a problem. If not it's one of those things.

I wired a second socket on mine a few weeks ago - the fuse was blown when I came to test it - replaced and no problem since (I think I blew it testing the polarity of a LED).

I've just replaced it, wiggled all the obviously connected wires, and it seems ok............I'm gonna take it for a test ride and see if it holds up (and to get some spare fuses). The only other thing I've added which is connected to the circuit is a Givi top box with LED lights, but I'm sure LEDs wouldn't overload it....

Got a digi multi meter? If yes, put it across the battery terminals and rev it to 2k. Even wth the lights on you want to see between 13.8 -14.4 volts. If you've got that, its charging.

If not, follow the golden rule and go back to the last place you worked, ie the light bar. I dont believe in coincidences with electrical stuff.

Thanks for the advice. I've just been and given it a good run, fingers crossed seems ok. Bought some spare fuses, so I don't think I can do any more at the moment.
