1100GS Intake Manifold

I've just got an R1100GS (1995) cylinder head back having had an exhaust stud removed using spark erosion. When I picked it up, I found that they had removed the rubber intake manifold - which I now need to re-fit. I've looked on line and in this forum but I cant find very much guidance on re fitting this. Is it just a case of bolting it back on? There looks to be a 'flat' ring in the end of the manifold that seats against the cylinder head but is this all that seals it, or is there some form of sealant also required? Looking at the various BMW parts diagrams, there doesn't seem to be an o ring or gasket required. The intake manifold itself is in good condition so apart from this sealing issue, there is no need to replace it. As I'm not sure about this, any advice on this would be welcome.

As long as the ring is a few thou proud of the flange, it'll be fine. Assemble with a thin coating of oil just to allow it to bed onto the head.
