1100GS Consumption
Hi All,
I've been keeping a full record of fuel consumption over the past nearly 2 years, doing a 40 mile (one way) commute along the A31 in Hampshire - did it in 28 minutes one day!!! Mostly I take 40 - 50 minutes, but some stretches are 40mph limit and I like to stay inside 10% of posted speed limits - national speed limit = GLF (but within safety and skill limits). So, generally mixed but 'enthusiastic' riding. It's a '97 1100GS with a Remus can. I run Michelin Road Pilot tyres (terrific) and carry an E52 Givi Top box. I regularly get 200 miles before light and/or no bars on the gauge. Then get another 30 or so miles. So, usually fill at 220 - 245 totals and put between 21 & 23 Litres in. Once, having pushed too far & run dry I put 24 litres in the tank. My manual states a 24 litre (4 litre 'reserve') capacity in the std metal tank.
I've used slick 50 in engine, gearbox and final drive as well as regular Redex injector cleaning sessions.
All in all I get consistent 49+ mpg and have achieved 55mpg over a tankful occasionally.
If there are any other geeky statistical nuts out there I can provide the spreadsheet records and graphs.
Cheers,
