1100GS - reasons for it not initialising/priming

Yep - my (standard) 1100 is dead with the sidestand down, clutch or not.

mine isn't... first thing I did was get rid of that stupid bloody switch. just another thing to go wrong.

(and it does.. doesn't it)

pointless H&S nonsense. If you need reminding to kick up the side stand.. then you REALLY DO need that switch.

Right.... I've been reading this article and trying to get my head around it:

http://www.ibmwr.org/r-tech/oilheads/Sidestand_Down_Generic/index.shtml

But the one thing I can't understand is that he seems to be running two +12v to the coil in the relay. I'm presuming that this is a standard SPDT (why he want's DT I'm not sure) relay. He seems to be taking one +12v from the neutral light and the other from fuse 1 which doesn't knock off when the bike is starting. I always understood that a coil takes a +12v and GND. Is it a special type of relay?

my 850 does this sometimes if i leave the side stand down whilst on the centre stand pulling the clutch in a couple of times once the sidestand is up does the trick

Have a look at the brown connector that you undo to remove the tank ( it's got 5 or 6 wires and is flat not two tier).

Same thing happened to me and it was one of these wires that had worked loose.
