A bit of a speculative question, as I can't afford an upgrade right now, but nevertheless I'd be interested in what people have fitted.

Which makes are still current for the 1100?

Ohlins I know, but they are mega-spendy.

Is it better to fit both front and back, or back only?

You could always get what you have serviced (gassed and oiled) for about 120 quid. I had mine rebuilt and it is miles better! The money I saved paid for a trip through the alps!

Try wilbers front and rear they will adjust them to your specification also come with a five year warrenty.

I agree with this
My rear shock failed completely, had it refurbished at Firefox racing for £99 and i am very pleased with it. I dropped it off and picked up a week later.
Wilbers or ohlins would obviously be an even better upgrade but I couldn't afford them

If you do stump up the cash - go for the rear shock first. You will get a more dramatic improvement

I bought a set of refurbished r1100gs (front and rear) shocks off a member on here recently. I'd be willing to sell them to you for a good price. Just want rid of them now. (i bought them for an r850r project that didn't work out).

They are a bit ugly looking but the seller assured me they were working perfectly!

Send me a pm if your interested.
