1100GS what to look for

After the seat ...

... you might want to consider 'hard parts', particularly if you are venturing off the smooth black stuff. They strengthen the gearbox mounting point, which has been known to fail, and help to prevent an 'off' smashing the lock stops at the front end.

I loved my 1100, and in some ways I feel it was a nicer ride than my 1150GSA :nenau

Hei oblertone, mine is allready fitted with the steering stop:thumb I enjoy riding on the mountain roads so the gearbox "Hard Parts" sound like a sensible mod any idea what they cost

Mine ...

... were Touratech ones, but I'm not sure they still do them; however try here for an in-house vendor :thumb2

PS: You may need to subscribe before you can send him a PM, however it may be well worth your while as hard-parts often appear in the For Sale & Wanted section that, as a guest you can only view.

Hard Parts
Mort makes some good ones, have a look in the vendors section :thumb2

Stewart

It would appear to be somewhat dangerous to enter the vendors section:D

You see ...

... cleaning things, the root of your problems :augie Joking aside it's a fairly common fault on the 1100's, weld or replace it's your call but the addition of the support rails from Touratech can help.

Thanks guys, this one has obviously been repaired before:mad:
And the frame needs welding too:eek: A quick call to a BMW dealer........yes they all do that sir:(
A few photos of the offending damage
