£585.00  but could have been £775.00 if I'd had the new rear disc put on.
That did include 3 sets of brake pads and a new indicator, all fitted. But Eak! My Haynes manual will be put to the test while I'm saving for the 36,000 miler... Also shouldn't they have changed my Alternator drive belt at 24,000 ?

That is normally scheduled for 36000 miles, but it is worth checking at the 24000 mile stage as there have been a few that have gone before their time.

Bob

PS Go to Steptoe for the next service :)

Every time i take my bike/car for a service i instruct the dealer/garage only to do the service and any additional work that needs doing, give me a call first for me to give them the go ahead because these peple will take the piss and take you to the cleaners :tosser as for brake pad/discs changes etc i do it myself to be honest my wife could carry that type of work out.

In fairness they did call me, for an easy life I gave the go ahead, but yes I'd keep out of the dealers if I can, will call Steptoe next time :clap

An instance - 12K service £170 ( £180 twin spark) - 24K is fuel filter change so add £30 ; front pads £16 - £18, depending on model ; rear pads £15. Brake pad fitting labour for the whole bike £30

So for your bike = Total £277 ( £287 twin spark) plus add another £4 if later type of brake calipers .

And service book stamped ;)

And 1150GS loan bike :D

Just about to get my Jeep serviced 2 years 24K... 590 quid inc VAT ouch...

One dealer quoted me 660 quid inc VAT and they where in Luton for F sake!

Bugger

I too have a GS and Jeep!!

Having spent £450 on the same service at Vines,

looks as though I'll be another Steptoe customer soon !!

I do my own servicing on my car, the wife's car, and the bike. It's really not that difficult, and to be honest I quite enjoy it, especially the satisfaction at saving all that money, that you could be spending on toys. If your bike or car is out of it's warranty then have a go yourself, just make sure you keep the receipts for all the service items you've bought, I also keep a file that I record all the work carried out.
Cheers,
Andy
