I was warned, but it has taken 76,000 miles for it to happen. I have to say, I do like the power brakes, WHEN THEY WORK.:blast

I magine the scene. Tearing down through the Welsh Hills somewhere near Brecon, good steep descent with lovely swoopy bits, trees and steep drops with rivers in the bottom.......come round a good left hander doing about 65, loaded up.....roads up and there is man standing there with a STOP/GO lollipo....only I couldn't, stop that is. I hauled on the front lever and carried on as if nothing had happened. Well, it hadn't, the brake warning lights flashed to say I had no brakes. Thanks for the confirmation, but my soiled trousers had already told me that. I did manage to negotiate all hazards and brought the bike to a sort of stop in amongst the resurfacing equipment! You should have seen their faces.:D

I got recovered home, took nearly 9 hours of mucking about on relay trucks (AA were despatched by Carol Nash folks....next to useless, but better than still pushing home from down there.)

Right, so the situation is the bike is now at home, with no brakes and I need to get it fixed. I don't fancy a 250 mile drive down the motorway network to Steptoe with no brakes. I can't afford the £10 million bill Pidcocks will charge me...so who can I go to to sort out a servo problme please? I am happy to lose the servo, which is what Neil has suggested, but would like to keep the ABS (but apparently that isn't an option.

Why is it the brick engined bikes don't seem to have the issues with the servo that the GS does? Or is it that they do, but we just don't hear about them?

Anyway, all suggestions welcome, other than those suggesting a box of matches!

Thanks for that Pekko, but it isn't weak brakes, the pump isn't running at all when I hit the lever. You hear it whirring when it does. The relay is clicking in and out, but no motor is firing up.

I will try a new relay first, but Neil wasn't too hopeful on the phone that it would be the relay. I am! Really i am, and that the filter is slightly blocked too, my wallet is hoping more than me.:tears

You could try the no cost servo removal from the Font of all Wisdom on here. None of the steps is irreversible so after you've filled a piggy bank or ten you could buy and fit a new servo unit.

Alternatively you may be lucky and find that it's just bad electrical connections somewhere. Tank off and get stuck in to the hundreds of connections with a toothbrush and electrical contact cleaner.
