Quick help needed; I'm packing for a 2-week euro tour and realised I haven't bought any spare bulbs. Which commonly availabe bulbs - and I mean Halford's or Wilko's - can I carry? :D

Why bother? All 1100/1150 bulbs are commonly available in most continental filling stations.

Yup, (if your going via France, particular via the tunnel) don't sweat it.

Before leaving for a similar trip last year, I ran around like a blue arsed fly trying to put the required "safety kit" together (triangle, hi viz vest, bulbs, etc.) waisting valuable chillout time and head space on the last afternoon before leaving only to find that (starting with) the *very* first filling station on the other side you could get the whole kit, including bulbs for about half the average price over here and, as rooster says, most petrol stations thereafter were offering the same stuff.

Have a great trip! :thumb2

Sorry for the hijack, but just to reiterate many other threads on a similar subject:

Motorcyclists do not need to carry Warning Triangles, Yellow Vests or Bulb Kits.

Sorry for continuing the theme of this no doubt well done to death question, but.. I'm pretty sure that when I went last year I was seeing adivisory posters at the channel tunnel terminus saying specifically that motorcyclists had to carry them too. :nenau

Anyway it's a quick enough thing to check as you leave the UK and a pretty good bet that if you legally need some random item then most largeish petrol stations on the other side will be selling it - and often at half the price you see in the UK.

It's worth noting that the French generally do, in contrast to the English, quite like motorcyclists, tho most couldn't eat a whole one so you should be fine.

Have great trip. :beerjug:

Thanks for the advice folks. The bike is loaded like a bionic mule; leaving at 6am :thumb2

A simple way around this, if you have a top-box, is to spray the inside of the lid white and then add a triangle of reflective red tape.
Saves all the hassle of carrying a fold-up one and works just as well.

I like that - but what if it rains? :hide

it has to be a certain distance from the break down do you want to leave your top box down the road:mmmm

2400 miles. Bulb blew..

On the plus side, the bike only used about 100ml of oil every 1000 miles.
