When I fill up, taking care to fill right up to the top, the gauge still doesn't read as full, the top 2 bars on the gauge still don't show. This has just recently started happening. It corrects itself, the gauge won't alter for 40 to 50 miles, so it's no real problem, but still it's annoying.

Anyone else experience this, or have any tips?

Mine does this too. I've never bothered to fix it but I have noticed that it resets itself whenever I take the tank off. It's probably a float assembly(?) getting itself stuck in the tank.... which would be a PITA to correct as you'd have to get the tank internals out. I had to do this when I did the fuel-filter mod - not difficult as such but very fiddly and had me stamping and cursing for a few hours... :spitfire

Fuel sender

They all do that sir, two things to do

1. Disconnect the fuel pump connetor and spray the pins and sockets with switch cleaner or ACF 50 or even WD40 and work the connector in and out a few times, the terminals are only zinc plated and oxidise a bit causing a higher resistance from the float sender, this usually cures the problem, if not then :-

2. remove the fuel pump assy from the tank and clean the fuel float wiper contacts, the contacts are exposed in the fuel and a deposit from the fuel causes the same high resistance in the circuit.

Do 1. first.

As above, this is located on the right side under the long plastic cover under the petrol tank, cover off, undo the connector block & spray with WD40 / ACF50. Reconnect, voila! Happened to me twice now :eek , this has cured it twice :D
