Lots of to and fro on PM with Tunneruk, we've decided the colour scheme will be pearl sparkle white with clear top coat. Yum!

Am I not supposed to be painting that cockpit cover?

Not that bit - the infill below the clocks that MikeO makes up.

A little bit more progress tonight, side stand on - much easier springs than the main.

The rest of the MRA screen, Spare beak and indicator go on. I'll keep this on while the good stuff goes off to Tunneruk for painting.

;). Cheers. Pretty good value really. Probably spend that on autosol in no time.

It was a fairly easy choice for me. The cock-heads at the powder coaters grit blasted them instead of polishing them as instructed, so we're halfway there already.

Finish looks great on the samples I saw, so they should work well.

I forgot the screen interferes with the hand guards on full lock because the Renthal bars have much less sweep on. Noting the gentle application of a router can't fix!

A few more steps on the road to start-up day. Turned the bike around in he garage so I can work on the left hand side now. First job is to get the head and barrel ready for installation. I've already done a very light lap of the valves to polish off any imperfections. 5 seconds with coarse paste and 10 with fine. Even that's probably a wee bit too much but I was very gentle ...

Then starting with the valve stem oil seals line them up by hand:

Then a gentle tap with appropriate size socket as a drift:

Voila. Repeat 3 times.

Then we're onto installing valves and springs. I used the tried and tested method of numbered holes in a shoe-box lid to keep the valves separate and matched to their position in each head. Marked up the spring sets as well.

Trusty valve spring compressor - first used to rebuild my Mini 1000 head in 1986.

Far too easy to lose these jobs, I'm amazed I didn't.

The way I was taught to do it - a dab of grease to keep the little buggers in place.

Gently release and clean up, repeat three times:
