Hi, just registered after being a visitor to this site for some time (Was previously registered/member but in the old website format so not sure if that is still functioning)
Having just suffered the ignominy of pushing my 2000 1150GS a mile or so home through the town centre (complete with schoolkids coming out of school) my first thought was to see if someone out there can help me with my 'Technical problem'
Shortly after setting off, engine cut out completely. Unable to immediately restart but after waiting 5 mins or so engine restarted, but only briefly. With ignition on but engine not running the neutral light flickers and the tacho needle jumps, as well as a 'crackling' sound that seems to come from the lower rear RHS of the tank. Also fuel pump runs intermittently and clock resets to zero! After waiting engine will restart for anywhere between 1 and 10 seconds!
The same thing happened to me 2 weekends ago but after waiting and restarting I managed a good 80 mile ride without any problems, so assumed it was moisture or a bad contact somewhere. Bike had been used fairly consistently through the winter and has 30k miles on the clock.
Anybody out there got any clues? Any help gratefully accepted!
