1150 GS Final Drive

A Fix!

Just thought I would add the following observation from my recent repairs.

Prior to replacing the bearings I noticed that around 5000 RPM the bike was a little viby. I wasn't too worried about it because loads of people have this problem. It only seemed to be noticable when the bike was in gear whilst I was riding therefore I thought it was a common engine vibration problem. If I pulled the clutch in (Not at 5000 RPM) but whilst travelling at a fair speed the vibes disapeared.

Having completed the bearing change and been out for a good ride today I must say things are much smoother at 5000 RPM.

So for anyone having the 5000 RPM vibes maybe it would time to check your swing arm and pivot bearings.

Fat side out? Or have I got it totally wrong.

You are out of your depth, this is not a dig at you, just get some practical help from someone who understands what is required and can show you basic engineering skills. Hope you don,t take this the wrong way. :thumb

Engineering skills updated. Done this a few times now after all the useful help I got on here.
