Just what do you wise people set your suspensions at, I cannot decide which is better, really firm or soft.

I asked this question about two years ago and had some well thought replys... Mick Fagans I seem to remeber gave good advise.

Not sure how to search that far back though

I'm no suspension guru & no racer but at the Hawes do last summer, I was on the "progressive" rideout which consisted of myself & Jim Bryan. I found that I was struggling to set up & hold a good line around the bumpy lanes of N. Yorks. In my defence  I still had all my luggage in the panniers and was on TKC's while Jim had alloys with BT010's & Ohlins. However, I found that winding off the rear preload made the bike handle MUCH better. In the end I had just a small amount of preload but the damping was about midway (I'm 72kgs) and had no probs keeping up. Several VFR owners, a Triumph 955 & a CBR6 owner were witnesses to the fun we had. Since then, I use the min preload I can get away with but make sure that the damping is enough to prevent wallowing. Works well for me.

I suppose it will depend upon the type of roads you mainly use, and how you ride. I like twisty, bumpy roads rather than fast sweepers so my bike is set up to suit these.

HTH,

Thanks you guys, I guess the idea is to continually test various settings, ok if you got a quiet race track or airfield nearby eh??
