Just noticed that 6 of the spokes on my front wheel have a slight kink, and I mean slight!, about an inch from the rim. The rim seems I damaged and the wheel spins true. How easy is it to replace spokes? I see they are designed to be accessible with the tyre in place, can I simply bang new spokes in? Or should I go to a wheel repairer?

Your problem will be the nipples having seized in the rim or hub and may need careful drilling out, otherwise pretty straight forward although replace one at a time.

And when tightening, tap spokes with a spanner to get the same ring tone as all the rest. Good luck in getting the broken ones out of the rim.

As an aside, I once had the misfortune of taking my bike for an MOT where the tester used a tuning fork on the spokes. One and a half hours later........
