My lads 04 GSA 1150 has a rusty subframe around the hangers, it could really do with coming off and being repainted properly.

Is it a big job to remove it ? I'm more concerned about the wiring, but also wondered can it be done with the bike just on its main stand ?

Start at the rear lamp and indicators and just keep stripping,
in reality it isn't that difficult, you don't need to disconnect any wiring in the fuse box just let it hang down.
Remove the throttle bodies and injectors so you don't damage anything.
As JB says take plenty of pics especially where the loom passes by the airbox/battery tray
get a manual

Nice one... Thanks.

How would I damage the throttle bodies just out of curiosity ?

Don't worry you won't. Unless you use a hammer :D....

Undo all the bolts holding it in place, let the rear mudguard and electrics sit on the rear wheel, leave shock in place just remove top bolt.
Lift subframe slightly and pull rearwards. Job done.
