Black engine casings?

Does anybody know if BMW produced the SE with a black engine casings option?

I can't see the appeal myself, I mean who'd want an end of production parts bin special :nenau

I suppose the issue with them is that you couldn’t buy a GSA any other way - the 1200GSAs weren’t available until into Summer 2006. So you had a choice of a 1200GS, or if you wanted an Advenure you had to buy an 1150.

Trippy's being ironic (I think) as he used to own one of these Camp editions. Now he's just trying to show how Butch he is.

Had an 1150 now got 1200 but I think I would like one of these . I have an interest in tractors and these just seem to gell somehow.

Well, perhaps you can get a couple of steel pipes, and tie the two bikes together somehow - that'll be pretty tractor-like.

Yes, that's one of them.

Cracking prices, I believe the only reason they havent sold yet is Christmas and people are a little reluctant to spend because of the credit crunch.

If I didnt have one already, I would be banging your door.

Yes, I think they'll sell quickly in the new year, if not before. There's a bit of a slow down because it's Christmas, but still lots of interest - I don't think the "credit crunch" will make much of a difference.

I`m interested, what are the thoughts from 'those in the know' ie those who already own an SE. From the pictures of this 1150 it appears to have shiney white paintwork and a plain black dual seat. so would these just be a 'plod special' and not a genuine SE version and therefor potentially, not so much a future 'classic' john

maybe - if you're buying the bike purely as a future investment - rather than to actually ride the thing. :rob

a respray will fix the tank - and its not unheard of for OE seats to turn up for sale. :thumb

Lets face it - there is an element of truth to the derogatory label of it being a 'parts bin special' - still, a thing of beauty despite that.

... Sorry if this seems like an ad!
But surely it is an add?? I think to be honest that this is a great bike at a very fair price and as its ex police it will have been well looked after. I paerticularly like the additional switchews on the left grip which I take it were for the sirens and lights and wouldn't mind a set for myself to put on my driving lights and anti traffic warden missles:D

Andy, no I was just really mentioning the fact that Betty didn't have the last SE in the UK, because the two I had were registered much later. Then people started asking about them...

Anyway, the switches on these are quite nice because they fit in with the style of the existing switchgear quite well. They are set up for sirens, strobes and flashing headlights (the latter still works), but I think you could repurpose them for fog lights or auxiliary front lights, etc.

I would guess that if you really wanted a set of these switches you would be able to get them from BMW.
