1150 ideal for side-car setup ?

Prefere a easy fit unfit type if possible......

Sidecar on 1150GS

The traditonal method of mounting a sidecar calls for a machine with a full frame. You dont have one of those.
The traditional method of mounting a sidecar to a 1150GS is to stand back and keep throwing $$$$$$$$'s until the result is achieved.
OR, get yourself one of the new Urals, set up with a chair attached, and keep the GS unsullied.
Is this extreme, not if you do a full and realistic costing.

Years ago, a mate put a chair on a K1100LT. The bike cost $10K at the Police auctions, he stopped counting when he hit $20K. Eventually sold it for $12K. It was well sorted by then too !

Outfits eat rear tyres, the best fix is to fit a 15 x 5 wheel and use 15 x 165 car tyres.

To have a properly set up outfit, you will render your bike unuseable for anything but outfit work. You cant have your cake........

and that, is my $0.02 worth.

Yes it was a permanent, expensive solution but I just posted it to show what can be done. Mr. & Mrs. 'Grumpy' were regular visitors to Peetown with the rig but I'm probably going to get the thread closed for saying that

Thought about putting a chair on mine .Happily went for a well sorted RT100 with a Heidghem XL chair . Way cheaper . Has the lot ,leadings links and runs on the car tyre . Chuffed that i bought it . No speed merchant ,but who needs that when you got dogs and a passenger.

I'm not a 'chair' fanatic (drove a couple of Panther outfits briefly in the '60s ).

But.

That sidecar wheel looks a long way forward.

I thought the 'norm' in Britain was 8" of lead with 0.5" toe-in.

In Germany they preferred the chair wheel to be in line with the rear wheel of the bike (which would have simplified the power train).

Any experts like to enlighten me on the pro's and con's of sidecar wheel placement ?

Why not to use a tailer made trailer for the dog?
It's much cheaper and you can take it off in seconds.

Check the exhaust of the Ninja. It's modified because of the dogs.
