I love my 1150 adventure......

Something really special about the engine and the way it performs. It may not have power some think they need but the engine is some creamy and flexible compared to an LC.

It just flows....

As do I my 1150GS.

Just been out on it for an hour today, scrubbing in the new TKC 70 tyres. At 4,000 rpm it just runs so smoothly and after riding it for 92,000 miles or so, it feels like a comfortable pair of slippers.

Mind you, rather heavy slippers! Realise my days of Offroading it may be past.

Hope you get many more years of enjoyment out of yours!

Well it's knocking on the door of 60000 miles so someway to catch up with you. It's just been totally refreshed so will be good for another 60000.

Mine has done about 100k miles in total but with replacement of TPS, Hall sensor, ECU , battery, fork seals and next week the starter motor plus a full service from Steptoe a fortnight ago I hope it will do the same again

The Service from Steppers will likely be enough to get it to do the same again :aidan

IN reality there are more and more of them passing 100,000 miles and still in fairly good shape

I think "Hank" off Advrider had 440,000 miles on his last time I saw a picture of his speedo

111,000 on my Harley now…… ….. just had a little refresh, base gaskets, Cam, new hydraulic lifters, clutch and clutch cable….

Rides sweet…. And is a keeper…..

Love mine but, now it is having fuel running problems which so far a lot of money hasn't fixed.
Making me depressed. Very hard to star, running rich, a regular backfire but, when it runs; runs great.
Sept 2002 model.

I had similar symptoms with a 2000 1150GS...... new Left hand HT Lead (split in the cap) and then we found the Ignition coil was failing under load so replaced that and she's firing like a newbie. I was ready to give up on her but the love is back haha

Having ridden a 1250 for three days in South Africa recently (tar and gravel) while waiting for my own bike to be unloaded from its ship, I was surprised at how little I found to like about the bike compared to my 1100. The suspension and clutch/gearbox (finding neutral was very hit and miss) were very unimpressive for a machine 25 years younger than mine. Horrible cheap finish on the badly positioned handlebars matched the gash welding on the frame and cheap looking wheel hub castings. Didn't even feel that much lighter! 70-odd thousand miles on my bike and it purred from Capetown to the Caprivi and back without complaint. The only weak point was the muppet riding it. I won't be 'upgrading' any time soon, and if I did it wouldn't be to a 1250.

Swap? Nah.

I will admit that other than problems finding neutral, I did enjoy my gearchanges feeling and sounding less like chucking a brick into a metal bucket.

800 miles on my 1290R…but that’s not relevant either.

My 1150r is at 47k now. Love that extra long 6th gear. If only my old 1200 TC had it...Mine keeps blowing fork seals (4th paid due in 25k) and that's with new stanchions..Starter will be replaced at next service. Love the bike just wish I could get my old ardcase panniers a rack for it

Last time I had Steptoe do some work on a bike (R1100RS) I borrowed his R1150R loan bike.

I came back thinking what a great bike it was, and that anyone who wasn't going to take their GS off road might be a whole lot happier with an R.

Which is why I switched to and R1100R front wheel and R1100S rear wheel around 20yrs ago but, because it’s a GS, I could also fit the Adv tank which was much more useful for commuting with - not having to fill up every other day…

Is there much difference between 1100gs subframe and 1150r as I am using Holan frames with my cases.

Pretty sure they are not the same subframes. Hepco and Becker do some frames for the 1150R and I am sure the ARD cases could fit to those without too much bother.

You may have covered this, but have you been buying OEM fork seals or aftermarket?

If the latter, try the OEM, there's a chance it could fix your issue with the seals
