Hi chaps,
My father-in-law send me an sms from next to the road yesterday with some trouble on his 1150. He was riding along and suddenly looked down and noticed his boot is very wet what he assumed was fuel. He made his way towards the offramp on the motorway and suddenly the bike just cut out completely. He freewheeled it towards the side of the road and upon inspection noticed the oil sight glass was gone and the wet on his shoe oil
Now I have heard of them leaking and even helped someone replace one before which was a piece of piss. I did have not heard about them actually popping out but pretty sure this has happened in the past as well. His main concern is what type of damage can he expect from running the motor without of oil and does the 1150 have any safety device when the oil pressure drops that it would just cut the motor out or would that be the bearings probably seized? The oil pressure light came on after he stopped.
He is not very mechanically minded so have no idea what to expect from the dealers. This is back in South-Africa and not here I might add.
Thanks
