Are there any (cheap) ways to improve it?

On longer journeys I don't mind the 'elastic' quality, but I've been commuting for the last two weeks and round-a-bouts and some tight turning are a bit of a bugger, especially in the cold, wet, and slimy conditions.

I'm on Tourances - which doesn't help much as they seem to take an age to warm up - so I'd just like to be a bit smoother with the torque, if possible.

If it's set up well an 1150 should be great for slimy road slow riding. If it is jerky on/off throttle it may need a TPS setting check and a TB balance. Also make sure that there is the correct free play at the throttle cable handlebar to TB side as if its set too tight/loose it will make things choppy.

Don't forget the 1150 has a very high (for commuting) bottom gearthis does not help, I putr a lower ratio bevel box on mine, loose a little bit of top end but a dream in traffice never touch the clutch brilliant.

Yep, this occured to me too. And the clutch does need slipping on the piece of road I'm thinking about. Do you use the bevel box from an 1100?

Yes thats the boy, ratio is 33/11 and they are not difficult to change, I originally put it on before a long trip involving a lot of dirt road riding (Dalton Alaska) And when I came back took it off and returned to normal, for a week!!, then put the 1100 one back as it is simply brilliant. you can soon change it back and flog it if you don't like it. Don't try any others as I've been down that route and they are too low, the adventure site recommended one from an 850 which is great for wheelies in top gear! but unless attempting to climbe Ben Nevis is too low. Put an ad on here and or ask Steppers if he can help as thats where mine came from. If I can be of any help don't hesitate to get in touch.

No need to pay that price put an ad on here and phone Steppers some one will do a lot better than this.

I've no 1100 final drives in stock, i only have the 1150 version at the moment .

i found the 1150 throttle response a bit too sudden on-off, but got used to it after a while.

i don't have a solution other than practice, but can say that the 1200 is much better in that respect.

Wrigsby was right :thumb2; had a '12,000' mile service including TB balancing and it's sweet as a nut. Feels much more responsive.
