I have just replaced my clutch and put everything back together. Everything seemed OK passed an MOT so I went for a ride to matlock to test . The problem is, if i just gradually increase speed all is OK no problems with speed change, if I try to change speed quickly to overtake, there is a real lack of power for maybe 3/4 seconds before the engine suddenly picks up. It feels like a fuel/air problem.

I didn't have the correct clips for the throttle body/airbox tube connectors, instead I used normal tie wraps.

Is it possible that this would mean too much air getting in (bypassing the air filter) or because I removed the throttle cable from one side when I was stripping down the bike to do the clutch, that some inbalance in the throttle bodies could be the cause.

Many Thanks

It does sound like a possible imbalance. Check the cables and maybe re sync the throttles. Thats were I'd start. Also check that you've not got an air leak anywhere. The fact you used tie wraps to connect the elbows should be ok if their not leaking.

I have cable ties on mine, no problems in 30 000 miles...

I would check that both cables from the splitter box on the accelerator cable are pulling together.

I think the issue might be with the metal clips that link the throttle cable/the black plastic throttle mechanism. Does anyone have a picture or know how these fit. It looks like a slight cut out fits into the slot on the end of the throttle cable and somehow connects to this plastic or the throttle body.

The metal clips were a minor part of the problem - a break for a few beers and the next day tried again went in without any problems. I think the real issue might have been that one of the spark plug leads wasn't fully connected. All perfect again
