Hi All,
I come here to the font of all wisdom about GS's.
Does anyone have any experience with repainting the valve covers from an 1150GS Adv? I have one on which the paint is bubbling and starting to flake
. It looks like the paint has come away from the undercoat in a lot of places (maybe heat related or poor surface treatment or both)
.
The three spacer buttons on the plastic head protectors on both sides have molded themselves into the paint as if it was not completely dry when they were installed. So the paint seems to have softened at some point (when hot?).
Has anyone had this happen to their Adv rocker covers and had them resprayed successfully?
What's the best way to strip the old paint from the magnesium cover - bead blasting, paint stripper or something else?
What's the colour code for the covers (I think it's called Ferro)? Is it available in a heat resistant version?
All help/suggestions/comments welcome.
Thanks,
Graham
