1150gs cast wheel conversion, pics.

My 2000 with alloys trips the ABS accelerating hard to higher speeds 85 to 90 but if more gentle on the throttle is ok upto 110, it also trips at very low (walking pace) and only with the front brake & light pressure and not all the time?? sensors swapped and gap correct.

Very similar to my own experience so far Taz.

Bummer...

Bummer...

The brakes still work fine, in fact the front is stronger now with more feel due to the reduced rolling circumference, just annoys me when something doesn't function as it should, and is an issue I'll get to the bottom of and resolve somehow. But yeah, bummer!

Just to throw a bit more wierdness into this pot, my first foray into road wheels was to fit a front & rear set from an R1100R. These are the 3-spoke ones where the rear is an 18" & takes a 160/60 tyre. Then I managed to get hold of the Boxercup 5.5" rear wheel I originally mentioned. I expected it to throw the ABS system into a fit, but nothing ever happened despite the differences in rolling circumference between various tyre combinations.

Reigniting an old thread here...

KMD, what cast wheels did you buy? What bike are they from and apart from the ABS rings, did you have to buy anything else, like spacers, or did they just fit straight on?

Any weighing up the cost and my level of competence to see if I'll take the plunge!
